Ski Patrol & Safety

Making your skiing safe and enjoyable.

People of many ages and walks of life come together to form the BV Ski & Snowboard Patrol. Our youngest members are in their late teens and our oldsters are in their sixties, with many years of experience.

The common bond between us is our love of snow sports and our commitment to helping skiers and snowboarders get the most out of their experiences on our hill. We treat skiers and snowboarders each year in our patrol building and, if necessary, call for ambulance service.

If you have any medical problem while at Buena Vista

please come to see us or ask the nearest staff person to give us a call and we will be right there.

Although most of us live near Bemidji, we have members traveling nearly a hundred miles to do their shifts. No one is paid, but we have received some grants to buy supplies and equipment from the local hospital.

The Buena Vista Ski & Snowboard Patrol would like to make your skiing safe and enjoyable. Members of the Ski & Snowboard Patrol can be identified by the cross on the back of their colored parkas. If you need assistance in any way, Buena Vista Ski & Snowboad Patrol will be glad to be of assistance.

Code of Conduct

Skiing can be enjoyed in many ways.

At ski areas you may see people using alpine, snowboard, telemark, cross country & other specialized ski equipment, such as that used by disabled or other skiers.

SkiersRegardless of how you decide to enjoy the slopes, always show courtesy to others & be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing that common senses & personal awareness can help reduce. Observe the code listed below & share with other skiers the responsibility for a great skiing experience.

Buena Vista Ski Area is not responsible for injuries sustained while using facilities.

This statement applies to all lift tickets and snowtubing ticket users, whether alpine skiers, nordic skiers, snowboarders, snowtubers, or other users of any other "skiing equipment" permitted at the area. The purchaser or user of this ticket agrees and understands that skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing can be hazardous and assumes all risks of personal injury, or loss of, or damage of property, both personal and that of others. Trail conditions vary constantly because the weather changes and skier, snowboarder or snowtuber use. Ice, variation in terrain, moguls, forest growth, rocks and debris, lift towers and other obstacles and hazards, including other skiers, snowboarders or snowtubers, exist throughout the area. Be aware that snowmaking and snowgrooming may be in progress. Always ski, snowboard or snowtube in control and stay clear of this equipment. In using this ticket and skiing, snowboarding or snowtubing at this area, such dangers are recognized and accepted. This ticket mey be revoked without refund at any time for violation of management rules or for misconduct or nuisance caused by the user. Ticket must be visible at all times and attached to permanent clothing.

Passport Program

4th Grade Passport Program

Buena Vista is participating is the 4th grade passport program sponsored by the MN Ski Area Association. This program offers 4th graders the opportunity to try skiing/snowboarding. It introduces them to a fun winter activity. The passport is good for 3 daily lift tickets for the passholder only.
(1 ticket available per day)
